The Swedish LGBTQ community’s equity and LGBTQ education course practice in Chinese universities.

As one of the most friendly country for homosexual, bisexual and transgender, since 1995 Sweden allowed the homosexual partner can be registered as legal partnership. Also, in 2009 Swedish parliament approved a measure to legalize same-sex marriage law. Even more, Sweden is the first country in the world to allow transgender people to modify their gender of law and the government provides hormone therapy for free. The gay pride parade in Stockholm has been Sweden’s annual event since 1998 based on its’ largest scale of participants and long histories.

Due to decades of unremitting efforts from the civil society to the government, Sweden becomes “the LQBTQ friendliest” country in the world. During these years, what kind of touched stories has happened? And in the process of legalizing same-sex marriage, what obstacles have supporters encountered? And how to make the breakthrough happened? On the evening of April 7, come to meet with Swedish senior activists, rediscovering the mysterious Nordic country and the possibility of LGBTQ movements.

In Chengdu, there is a university psychology professor who has been devoting to popularizing correct and objective understanding about LGBTQ community to university students. Although she does not offer public elective course about sexuality education, she always invited LGBTQ people in her class to share their life stories every year.

In order to promote a friendly university environment, firstly we should establish an open communication platform which including diverse community inside, and encourage teachers and students to discuss for gradually build a multi-gender perspective. That is what professor Tang has been in practice to promote in her teaching life. Finding a different teaching way with this great psychology professor in April 7.
